Are there benefits to Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) besides dry eye relief?

IPL also improves the appearance of the skin. Furthermore, IPL treats uneven skin tone, age spots, sun spots, rosacea, demodex, blood vessels, styes, and hyperpigmentation. It also tightens the skin and lifts the lids.

Are there patients who IPL would not benefit?

IPL cannot be used if you are pregnant, on certain medications, have a darker skin tone, or if you have certain medical conditions like Lupus or xeroderma. You cannot undergo the treatment if you have scars, moles or tattoos near the eyelid.

How long do benefits last?

Benefits can last up to 6 months. Dr. Torbeih may recommend maintenance treatments depending on the severity of your dry eyes.

Are there any dangers or side effects?

Side effects of IPL are minor and temporary, and may include:

– Mild discomfort

– Mild redness on the treated area

– Lightening of skin for dark-skinned individuals

How long does it take to see the effects of IPL?

Most people notice a significant difference after the third treatment. However. some people notice a big difference even after the first treatment. Although each person is different, 90 percent of people notice a significant difference with IPL.
